[glow=red,2,300]MIP rating #1, Vicki can play "Yao Mulan" b/c of Of "Little Swallow" [/glow](Shanghai Younth)
MOMENT IN PEKING have been broadcasted for 2 days, everyone has been debating whether or not Vicki Zhao Wei can be "China's perfect female," From two days of viewing, audience have had mixed reviews. Some think that Vicki has changed from "little swallow's" spontaneous and rambunctious innocence to become more sophisticated and mature. Others believe that Vicki has lost her one selling point, become more woodenly introverted. *some ppl just can't get used to the drastic role change + Vicki's "Little Swallow" is too instilled in ppl's hearts, hard to accept anything else*
Executive Producer Yang Shan Pu thinks: "Right now it has only been broadcasted for two days, whatever the audience think, we can understand. But following time/show, ppl will see that Vicki definitely can protray "Mulan" well. She herself already has many of MuLan attributes!" *Referring to Vicki's love for books, abundance of interests in fine arts*
Zhao Wei is more heroic than Zhao Ya Zhi
Still large beautiful eyes, but less the bravery and boldness. Zhao Yao Zhi's protrayal of Mulan earned many's liking, with her in front, Vicki has shouldered on alot of pressure.
Vicki's role "Mulan" has some similarities with "Little Swallow", both roles have a masculine bravery, boldness, innate intelligence. This is also what Zhao Ya Zhi's protrayal lacked. Yet "Mulan" is not "Little Swallow", she has many traditional feminine attributes, including her forbearance, acceptance of others. It is still too early to judge in 2 episodes, her attributes will show when she goes into the Zhen Family, her protrayal will be much more intricate, think the audience will like her protrayal!"
*Rest of the article talks about the script variation from original book, and some audiences dissatisfaction at the dissimilarities. Series/movies are almost always variations of the original novel - no one can make it exactly the same, feel the same. Costumes, customs, and little time period details have been highly regarded by the production team.*

[glow=red,2,300]Korea imports "Moment In Peking"[/glow] 10-26-2005 Xinwen Wubao
"Moment in Peking" broadcasting rights have been sold to Korean channel and is in the process of dubbing in Korean.
Producer Wang Peng states: I don't like the comparisons. Korean drama "Jewel of the Palace" and MIP are entirely different stories of two different countries. Prior to "Jewel" being known to Chinese audiences, our MIP production was already in process. But there is similarities in "Mulan" and "Chang Jin's" personalities; forgiving and enduring. This is due to the large similarities/influences between Chinese and Korean culture, which continues today.
Korea has long tried to protect their culture. Years before when "Princess Returning Pearl" aka "HZGG" was widely received by Korean audiences, it also sparked their realization of Chinese influence. Even though many Chinese drama has been broadcasted in Korea after "HZGG", many of them are w/o dubbing, broadcasted in late hours and on non-mainstream channels. But this time, "Moment In Peking" is being red-carpeted to Korea - broadcasting rights purchased by a major Korean channel.
