Chinese series hotly broadcasted in Vietnam has made Chinese stars extremely popular. In 2003, when Huan Zhu Ge Ge aka Princess Pearl was being broadcasted, Vicki Zhao Wei and her protrayal of the role "Xiao Yan Zi" aka "Little Swallow" became instantly red hot. During the broadcasting period of time, reporters once saw this kind of scene at another entertainment center/building: All the employees stopped work, eyes glued to the lounge TV, facial expressions changing accordingly as the serie broadcasted. The reporter was speaking to a fellow friend, when suddenly the friend stopped and looked at his/her watch, apologizing but said had to go home and watch Huan Zhu Ge Ge.
*This serie was a hit everywhere around the world where Chinese groups lived. Vietnam, Malaysia, Phillippines all have similar happenings*
